The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is launching ‘University Innovation Hubs’ in 10 universities to support startups and youth entrepreneurship. As a part of the ‘Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development’ (DEIED) project under the Hi-Tech Park Authority, three universities—Chittagong University of Engineering and Techology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, and United International University—are already actively involved in this venture.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate three innovation hubs at Chittagong University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, and United International University on October 18. She will also lay the foundation for innovation hubs in seven more universities. At the same event, Sheikh Hasina will launch Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers in seven nationwide districts, including Natore, Comilla, Netrakona, Sylhet, Magura, Chittagong, and Rangpur.
The seven universities where the ‘University Innovation Hub’ construction are scheduled to start are Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET); Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Gopalganj; Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh; Barendra University, Rajshahi; BRAC University, Khulna University and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet.
